Manchester City will not participate in the next two champion league seasons of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. This according to UEFA ruling on Friday.
According to the UEFA disciplinary committee, Mancity have been found guilty of violating serious breaches of financial fair play regulations of UEFA between 2012 and 2016.
According to UEFA, the governing body of Europe clubs, Mancity will be barred from participating in the next two seasons and required to pay a fine of 30 million Euros.
In response to Friday’s judgment, Mancity said that they are not surprised by the verdict and they will be appealing at the earliest time possible at the court of arbitration for sports.
What will it mean to the club Onwards?
Mancity will continue playing in the remaining matches of this season which will include facing off Real Madrid on round 16.
However, If Mancity finishes on top best four teams of English Premier League (EPL) this season. It will not participate in the champion league of next season. The club which finishes on the 5th place will proceed to the Champion League of 2020/2021 unless appeal succeeds at the court of arbitration for sport.
