The social media giant Facebook has announced that they are on the process of including Afrikaans, Swahili, Yoruba, and Wolof in efforts to curb spreading of fake news.

The statement was jointly released by facebook and African Check on Wednesday this week. The giant company is committed towards a building an inclusive, supportive community, safe and informed while combating fake news.

Basically, Facebook uses technology and tips from the community to know if the information is fake. From there, if the information is fake they raise a red flag to Africa Check whose role is to check on the news.

News identified as inaccurate will be priorities low on facebook feed and stories reducing the spread of the information.
